Fire dampers are provided in ductwork to maintain the integrity of a fire separation. Heating and ventilation ductwork which penetrate fire-rate walls or floor assemblies are generally equipped with fire dampers. The typical areas which required fire dampers to be installed include but are not limited to IT rooms, electrical rooms, mechanical rooms, storage rooms, exit stairs and corridors, service rooms, janitorial closets, elevator machine rooms, loading dock, vehicular garage and passageways, garbage rooms between rated floor assemblies. The fire dampers are ULC listed with a 1.5 hour fire-protection rating as required by the OBC and NBCC for closures in openings.
