GOC694091-CT - GOC694091-CT Legionella - Change AHU Drain Pan Piping and Install BF Preventers

The work under this project includes but is not limited to what is outlined below along with all work indicated on the contract documents, plans and specifications.
 
1.. To address the legionella concerns for the facility, Air Handling Units (AHU) are to be each raised by 25mm on the high side of the cooling coil drain pan, to better facilitate condensate drainage. Metal shims or structure is to be used to support the raised AHU’s. The contractor is to identify the units through a thorough walk through of the facility and execute the work after project award. The raising of the units, new elevation, will be accommodated by the flexible connections that are included in the ductwork connections.
 
2.. To address city back flow and legionella concerns, back flow preventers (BFP) will be added to three water entrances within the facility. The piping schematic for the new water entrances is shown on the drawings.

3.. To address legionella concerns, back flow preventers (BFP) and heated enclosures will be added to three site hydrants located on the site around the facility. To provide protection from the three fire hydrants it will be necessary to install a backflow preventer on each fire hydrant branch in a small heated enclosure adjacent to the hydrant. This would involve raising the six inch hydrant branch piping up to a heated enclosure, installing the backflow, and re-routing the piping back underground again to the hydrant. The hydrants may have to be moved slightly to accommodate the heated enclosure. Each enclosure would include a 1kw of electric heat set at 5 to 10 degrees C. The backflow preventer will be provided with isolation valves for maintenance and these valves will have to be electronically supervised to confirm that they are open.
