GOC991613-CT-SHI - Contractor - Replace Fire Alarm

Scope of Work/Overview:

1. Replace existing fire alarm system with new addressable fire alarm system. Provide new addressable devices, mineral insulated cable (fire alarm cabling) and conduit that meets current code requirements including notification and initiation devices throughout the building.
2. Move and relocate existing furniture on a temporary basis each day and reinstate the furniture for use the following day during the construction period.
3. Annual Asbestos Reassessment Report conducted by Pichin Ltd on October 12, 2018 states that Asbestos-containing materials are present in the building plaster, vinyl sheet flooring and parging cement pipe insulation.  
   1. Re-use existing fire alarm infrastructure penetrations to install new fire alarm infrastructure. Disturbance of asbestos containing materials inside the building is not expected.
4. Designated Substances Survey conducted by DST Consulting Engineers on December 16, 2008 states that:
   1. Lead is present in emergency light batteries, solder on copper pipes and cast iron drain-pipe caulking.
      1. Emergency lightings are not part of the scope, lead disturbance is not expected.
   2. Mercury present in fluorescent lights and thermometers.
      1. Fluorescent lights and thermometers are not part of the scope. Mercury disturbance is not expected.
   3. Silica is present within concrete building materials, hard plaster, and within brick and mortar.
      1. Disturbance of silica is expected when working on concrete building materials or surfaces when placing surface mounted conduit.
      2. Provide dust control measures during the disturbance of silica, including those outlined within the occupational health and safety branch of the Ontario Ministry of Labour Guideline: Silica on Construction.
      3. Awarded contractor to develop and adhere to a Silica mitigation plan that is approved by BGIS prior to starting work.
   4. PCBs present in PCBs
      1. Removal of PCBs are not part of the scope, PCBs disturbance is not expected.
   5. ODSs present in refrigerators, water fountains, chillers and HVAC systems.
5. Scope of work will not disturb ODSs present in refrigerators, water fountains, chillers and HVAC systems.
