The 2nd floor consists of a maintenance office, storage and the mechanical/electrical equipment room. The majority of the 20,000m2 facility consists of warehouse and archive with 15 ft high file storage systems with 8 m structure storing federal department information, employee records, and historical data. There is currently no disabled staff employed at the Library and Archives building. It is suggested that if a person with a mobility disability were to be hired, they would work in the administrative area.
The scope will address all the deficiencies identified in the Accessibility Audit, such as landings, stairs, door hardware, plumbing fixtures, millwork etc. and meet latest accessibility standard. The referred scope in the accessibility audit should focus on admin area only. The warehouse area would be exempted from compliance with the Accessible Design for the Built Environment CAN//CSA B651 standard.
