GOC325509 - Implementation - Boiler Repair

Statement of Work/Overview:
This project is to repair an existing Cleaver Brooks Clear Fire condensing heating boiler used
to provide heat to the building’s mechanical systems. The boiler is one of four located in the
upper mechanical room The boiler failed with a bulged drum containing the boiler’s fire tubes.
The repair will involve removing all existing controls, burner, insulation, safety valves, and
disconnection from existing piping system. Repair consists of working with boiler inspection
agencies to remove the damaged portion of the drum and weld in a replacement section of
similar material. A qualified welder will be required.
Once repaired and the welding is validated and scanned for defects the
vessel will be hydrostatically tested. Upon acceptance by the Boiler Inspection Branch the
boiler will be reassembled with new gaskets , burner, controls and reconnected to the piping
system. The manufacturers start up tests and commissioning, according to the manufacturers
instructions, will be performed. The Authority having Jurisdiction will inspect and certify the
boiler for use. All controls are to be verified as in good working order. A start up and
commissioning report is to be submitted.
