An asphalt overlay will be applied to the entire area of both the North and South parking lots. . The existing asphalt surface at the edges of each area and around the catch basin covers are milled to a depth of 40 – 50 mm so that the new surface will match the existing edge. Milling of the entire surface is not contemplated. Milling will be performed only at the edges of the overlay area in order that the new asphalt surface matches the existing surface at the edges. Milled material is to be landfilled. The entire area is then cleaned (swept), and a layer of tack coat is applied. Next, the asphalt overlay is placed and rolled to create a consistent, smooth surface free of ponding areas, cracking, or patches. Finally, new paint is applied to delineate each parking stall and indicate stalls reserved for accessible parking.
In addition, the concrete landings at the north and south building exits will be removed: first, the existing concrete will be broken and removed. Then, new concrete forms will be erected, the base material and reinforcing (rebar) will be placed, and new concrete poured in place. The surface will be smoothed and broomed to provide a safe walking surface. The concrete forms will be removed once the concrete has set and the access restrictions will be removed. Where replacement is not necessary, the concrete surface will be patched.
