Description

The Work of this Contract comprises general construction for the ‘LED Lamp Retrofit’ located at 86 Clarence Street & 294 King Street, Kingston Ontario.
The work shall include the supply and installation of all electrical, and equipment, materials and labour required to perform the scope of work as detailed below, in the specifications and drawings including but not limited to all ancillary work and equipment as required to provide fully functioning systems. The following is a summary only of the scope of work and shall be read in conjunction with the specifications, drawings, equipment schedules and addenda.
The Contractor shall be solely responsible for all coordination, equipment rigging, permits, street / lane closure details, security / police coverage of the operation, temporary protection including site safety, emergency access, site communications, disposal, clean up, etc. related to the Work.
Include in bid price all means necessary to remove and install all materials, equipment and labour within the work areas including electrical rooms, mechanical rooms, etc. including but not limited to coring, cutting and patching, hangers, piping, temporary moving equipment, and/or any lift/hoisting equipment needed (i.e. scissors lift, scaffolding, etc.). existing piping , electrical connections, conduit, controls and associated components. Ensure that any new equipment
Contractor shall be responsible for replacing, reinstating, or repairing any damage inflicted on the building materials during the course of construction. This shall include the patching, painting, fire stopping, and the reinstatement of concrete floor slabs which are damaged due to coring and cutting, to match existing finishes.
Provide ESA inspection on all electrical work. Include associated costs for permit inspection in tender price.
The Contractor shall provide a Project Manager (PM) who shall be responsible for the following:

Conducting site/construction meetings on an approximately biweekly basis.
Taking minutes at site/construction meetings and distributing minutes for review and approval to all attendees, Owners, and Engineers.

Provide a one year parts and labour warranty on the newly installed equipment from the date of Substantial Performance.

The Work shall include all information provided via drawings, specifications and supplementary documents.

Bidders are advised that there will be an OPTIONAL site visit to be held on the date and times specified within the item 2.6.15. A maximum of one representative of each Bidder, or its authorized representative or authorized representatives, is permitted to attend the OPTIONAL site visit. Attendees will meet the BGIS representative at the 86 Clarence street, Kingston, ON. *Bidders are advised that they must preregister via email, and on behalf of their authorized representative including subcontractors, to the procurement specialist named in this ITT (Rajesh Gupta: rajesh.gupta@bgis.com) by the date indicated in item 2.6.15 to be authorized to access the site. Failure to register may result in the Bidder’s representative(s) being refused access to the site.* BGIS will contact all Bidders that register and confirm the site visit time in the case when there are multiple site visit times. For mandatory site visits, Bidders are only required to attend one scheduled site visit to be eligible to bid. Bidders will be notified of any changes to the date of the site visit by Addenda. Bidders cannot use a representative from another Bidder as its authorized representative to attend the site visit.

Additional Bidding Instructions

All respondents must submit their questions for clarification on this portal only at www.bgis.merx.com. Request for clarification delivered by any other method will not be accepted.

Bids submitted at $100,000 or greater must upload the following bid security (“Bid Security”) in Merx:

a bid bond in a commercially reasonable form or an irrevocable standby letter of credit issued by a financial institution authorized to conduct business in Canada as a Schedule I or Schedule II chartered bank in the amount of at least 10% of the Bid Price and that shall be in effect until forty-five (45) calendar days following Closing Date; and
a confirmation from the Bidder’s surety (a performance bond and labor and materials payment bond, each in the amount of 50% of the Contract Price + Value Added Taxes) that, upon the Bidder being selected as the Selected Bidder, to furnish any contract security prescribed in the Contract in respect of the Work.
