WO#150287 The intent is to reconfigure the existing Classified Waste Destruction space to meet the operational needs of the existing equipment such as electrical and ventilation requirements. We need to determine the level of effort to reconfigure the existing space to accommodate new equipment, to determine whether or not proceed with the transfer assets from an Other Government Department or procure new equipment. Additionally, there has been a safety audit completed in the space and serious health and safety concerns were brought forward by the CFSU(O) General Safety Office. This includes the space being designated as a "Confined Space" and a "Fire Hazard Area" due to the improper air circulation in the space.The existing equipment is due to be life-cycled out beginning in 2016, so CFSU(O) has sourced two pieces of equipment from another government department at no cost. However, to install these two pieces of equipment, it is in the best interest of the Department to reconfigure the existing space, address the health and safety concerns, and ensure CFSU(O) can fulfill its mandate to destroy DND's classified waste now and into the future. Further the intent is to procure one brand new paper shredder.
