The existing concrete slab located on the south side of the building, which is approximately 2.4m x 3.4m in size, has deteriorated and is in urgent need of replacement. There is significant cracking at the top and bottom surfaces with exposed edges of the slab along with significant corrosion of the embedded steel beam. The slab is reinforced with steel reinforcing bars in both directions. Consultant to complete a site visit to review existing conditions and determine the extent of deterioration of the slab and any other structural issues that may be present. Review of the existing railing from a safety standpoint with the possibility of extending the slab at the gate opening for added safety for the maintenance team when accessing the pit below. Consultant to complete a Technical Investigation to report findings and design intent to correct the issues with the pit landing. Project to include but not limited to demolition of the existing slab, replacement with a new reinforced concrete slab/beam system, replacement of fence posts and fencing. Temporary shoring of existing slab, temporary barriers, and protection, including protecting the neighbor’s roof, to be in place at all times during construction.
