Statement of Work/Overview:
Consultant to:
1. Review and upgrade stair railings and guards within the Interior of the building to meet code requirements. Ensure that the building meets barrier-free design requirements in areas where barrier-free path of travel is required, such as washrooms, interior entrances, doorways, lunchrooms, drinking fountains, etc.
2. Design Year 1 and Construction Year 2. Consultant costs to be broken down accordingly.
- YEAR 1 (70%): Design includes making this project Tender ready by completing the IARs and Plans and Specs by March 14, 2017
- YEAR 2 (30%): Implementation includes: Contract Administration, contractor tender walkthrough; Tender clarifications etc. bid reviews and negotiations if required;
3. Most stair railings and guards in the building do not have the required extension at the landings and the proper height. Risk of non-compliance with applicable legislation. Safety hazard. Conformance with National Building Code.
4. Consultants to review the attached Requirements document which forms part of the Consultant RFP Package for more details.
5. This project focusses on the Interior of the building only. No exterior entrances etc. are to be included.
6. Consultant responsible for taking all meeting notes throughout the design, implementation and close-out phases.
7. Site Visit is NOT mandatory, however, it is the consultant's responsibility to know the site and to varify the number of locations in the building that needs to meet barrier-free design requirements in areas where barrier-free path of travel is required, such as washrooms, interior entrances, doorways, lunchrooms, drinking fountains, etc.
8. A site visit is scheduled for January 9, 2017 at 11:00AM, for those who are not familiar with the building and would like the opportunity to view the site prior to submitting a bid.
