GOC376701 - Consulting Services - Glycol Heat Exchanger Asbestos Removal and Inspection

Remove asbestos insulation from glycol heat exchanger #1 and #2 in the boiler room. Remove all
insulation from the shell, end flanges and piping up to the first valve. Open up heat exchanger and
inspect the interior of shell and tubes for blockage and clean if required. Inspect thickness of tube
wall and interior condition of heat exchanger. Report findings and be prepared to replace exchanger
and piping in the event that the measurements of the walls are too thin. Reinsulate the entire shell,
end flanges and exposed piping with cladded fiber glass insulation. Insulate flanged ends separately
to permit easier removal for maintenance. Check at the time of the site visit how much of insulation
has been removed on other projects. Building Technicians have attempted to flush boiler room piping to remove old glycol. Heat exchangers could not be cleaned completely because the end flanges cannot be removed due to continuous insulation covering the entire heat exchanger. The Building Condition Report recommended to inspect the tube wall thickness. Schedule for maintenance needs to be crossed referenced. Replacement during cooling season. Preorder of parts maybe required before Tendering the work to GC.
