GOC376719 - Consulting Services - Roof Anchor Replacement

Replacement of three roof anchors at the Greenstone Building.  The current anchors are cast in place and cannot be repaired, it is suggested that these be replaced with an adhesive anchor model.  Once the original anchors are removed, a portion of the roof area will require replacement (approximately 400 sq. ft.).  During the design a review of the code requirements for a four story building will need to be completed to determine if decommissioning is possible.
The roof anchors are used by contractors when repairs are required near the edge or on the sides of the building where tethering is required as per Health and Safety specifications.  The most recent inspection of these roof anchors revealed they did not pass the pull test in which the anchors must resist a force of 2500 lbs. The pull test is performed by pulling two adjacent anchors towards each other, and using a Digital Dynamometer to measure the applied load.  These anchors failed this test and therefore are not in a usable condition.
 
The project will also be tasked with reviewing the horizontal life lines located in the atrium of the building and ensuring that the contractor recertifies these.
 
During a site investigation it was determined that the roof also had a number of fall protection deficiencies that would need correction. This includes the following:
 
Extending the railings on either side of the fixed ladder leading on to the rooftop of the mechanical penthouse.
 
Reviewing the fall protection around AHU, as the perimeter around it (closest to the North wall), has an  exposed side that does not meet the 6 foot fall protection perimeter from the edge of the roof. Consulting team will need to review and provide recommendations for correcting this.
 
The roof vents on the south side of building’s roof are located within the 6 foot fall protection perimeter to the edge of the roof. Consulting team will need to review and provide recommendations for correcting this.
