Description

Add a leak proof storage vessel to existing roof top chiller.
The 155 ton Smardt oil free centrifugal chiller located on the roof contains approximately 365 Kg R-134a refrigerant. Because of refrigerant losses local management has adopted a policy of removing the refrigerant from the system at shut down and reinstating the refrigerant at start up. This project is to supply and install a horizontal register ASME storage vessel on the roof adjacent to the chiller. Modify the refrigerant piping so that refrigerant can be easily evacuated from the chiller system in the fall and reinstated to the chiller system in the spring. The tank should be enclosed in a cage with a roof structure or canopy to avoid the tank being exposed to direct sunlight. A structural review of roof loading is required to accommodate the new tank.
