PWG303878 - DND DC- Insulate Domestic Hot Water Tanks

Project intent is to perform a study that will lead to full implementation on the feasibility and design options of insulating domestic hot water tanks and lines in the DND Data Centre. There are currently two electric hot water tanks (100 gal each) acting as a backup system to the instantaneous hot water convertor. The return lines and the two tanks in the basement mechanical room are currently not properly insulated and/or have damaged insulation causing abundant heat loss and over warming of the mechanical room. In an effort to minimize heat loss the Brookfield Global Integrated Solutions facility’s team has used temporary insulating measures.
 
Brookfield Global Integrated Solutions will procure a mechanical consultant who will retain the services of an Environmental Consultant/Contractor to test all pipe insulation “and” work areas for asbestos containing material (ACM) and other designated substances provide a plan to remove/encapsulate or mitigate any risks of ACM adhering to the applicable regulations. After completion of any ACM removal (if required); the procured mechanical engineer will create plans and specifications on replacing the insulation in the DND Data Centre. Itemized Pricing will need to be provided for: Investigate & Report, Design, Full Implementation & Comissioning.
