GOC1246917-CT-LUS - Contractor Service-Ramp Replacement

Work of this Contract comprises the removal and replacement of the ramp located to
the south of the Government of Canada Building located at 22 Bay Street, Sault Saint
Marie.

1. Provide temporary barriers and enclosures around area of work.
2. Provide signage indicating that Barrier-Free access available at back of building
during construction.
3. Contractor to provide and adhere to dust mitigation plan.
4. Demolish sidewalk and ramp to extents indicated on drawings.
5. Excavate below ramp to depth indicated. Contractor shall take precautions to
ensure that adjacent sidewalks and planter walls are not undermined.
A. During excavation if plant roots are encountered the contractor shall
stop work and contact Consultant. Contractor is required to engage a
certified arborist for removal of roots and branches that impede
construction. Roots and branches are not to be removed without
written approval provided by Consultant.
6. Place backfill as per drawings. Contractor shall be responsible for retaining
independent testing agency to perform subgrade inspection and compaction
testing.
7. Construct new sidewalks and ramp as per construction documents.
8. Manufacture and install railings as per drawings.
9. Place fill in areas adjacent to new sidewalk and ramp as per drawings. Provide
100mm of topsoil and sod in areas adjacent to new ramp and sidewalk.
A. Contractor is responsible for watering sod for a minimum of three (3)
weeks after substantial completion.
10. Clean and restore property adjacent to area of work to pre-construction
conditions.
