This project consists of expensive modifications to the existing cooling tower platform at the Government of Canada Building located at 101 22nd Street East, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The current cooling tower platform was constructed in conjunction with a previous cooling unit; the replacement cooling tower installed in 2016 has access doors at different locations than the previous unit, thus necessitating modifications to create a new access platform. Some members of the existing platform will be modified and salvaged or reused in the new platform. New steel will also be required to create the new platform. New stairs and new handrails and guards are also required. Dimensions of existing platform are to be site confirmed by contractor. Access to the upper roof level will remain as-is with the current framing, and construction of the new platform elements will be tailored to suit this constraint. Work will occur during winter months, so provision to ensure minimum ambient temperature requirements for welding as set out in CSA W59 and reiterated in the contract documents must be included.
