Description

Building 10 East has two dual cell cooling towers and 10 West has one dual cell cooling tower on the roof serving the chiller plant. The cooling towers are manufactured by EVAPCO and are complete with electric immersion heaters. The cooling towers are in the base building, and in good condition.

The cooling towers have a dedicated VFD in each cell. The outdoor piping is heat traced year round for the operation of the condensing water loop.

At regular intervals throughout the year, maintenance work is required to be performed on the cooling towers. Currently, there is no working platform or handrails. Work is performed off a ladder and is a health and safety issue for maintenance staff. In the winter, the work conditions are further deteriorated by ice build up.

The intention of this project is to provide an appropriate working platform at each motor location along with a railing system on the top of the towers.
