PWG297608 - Redesign the North Entrance to the Building

The Brooke Claxton Building’s rear doors are situated facing the northerly wind.  While a berm does exist past the parking lot to partially mitigate the wind, the double door system that currently exists is the major source of heat gain in the summer and heat loss in the winter.  The wind is placing an extra burden on users in the area and placing an extra load on building systems.  Due to occupant complaints and the high concentration of employees in this building, this project was created.  While there is a range of potential options, the options are further complicated due to the existence of a barrier-free entrance. This door, while being utilized by those in need of barrier-free access, is also being utilized by those that prefer the convenience of a door with push-button control. In addition, solutions will need to comply with the FHBRO requirement as the Brooke Claxton is a heritage “classified” building. - (See attached PWG297608 - Brooke - North Entrance - Long RFQ (1) for full scope of work)
